Jonathan Grose and Cedric Paternotte also studied social norms in a piece called “Social Norms: Repeated Interactions, Punishment, and Context”. While their study is a different topic than the whole of this piece a specific instance helps develop the argument that social norms are constructed. Grose and Paternotte explain that social norms help society to make actions and activities fit appropriately with each other. Not only do experiences create an outline on how people must act in society, but the way people act in any given society follows the guidelines of what is suitable. The behavior of an individual must be equal to previous behaviors or the behavior must be within a certain range of appropriateness.
